It’s Just My Life 2018: A Celebration (Jan. 7, 5pm)

IT’S JUST MY LIFE , conceived and directed by Kathleen Rubin, is a collection of true, personally written and shared stories, chronicling profound and poignant moments that this group of women has faced in their lives. What may seem extraordinary and overwhelming to some, just becomes part of the fabric of each life.

This performance of IT’S JUST MY LIFE will be a celebration honoring Elziabeth Rubin, who has shared her story with audiences for the last 7 years. Liz, in telling her story, has been such an integral part of IT’S JUST MY LIFE. So much so, that when she made the decision to relocate to South Carolina, we knew a “Farewell” performance was in order, celebrating Liz’s contribution to the show and honoring the incredible impact she has had on all of the participants of IJML and every audience member who has been lucky enough to see her share her story.

We all have many stories to tell, but what makes IT’S JUST MY LIFE so unique, is each participant’s willingness to open up their lives, not to be judged, but to share, from the heart, defining moments that have, for them, changed everything. No one does this better than Liz. So please join us for this special celebration honoring Elizabeth Rubin and hearing her story one last time.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS:

…To write such beautiful, honest, compelling pieces and then to make their stories so real, so alive. so instantly present. I sat there when it was over and could hardly move; I was stunned by the brilliance of this experience. I wanted to run into the street and shout!

You have to see this! …”

…. is just my idea of a wonderful theatrical experience. I was riveted from the first story until the last. The truth told by these women is beautifully delivered in the perfect combination of humor and pathos. The entire audience, men and women alike, were brought to fits of laughter and cascades of tears by this wonderfully rendered hour and a half. Do not miss the chance to see this show!

…After seeing these incredible women tell such powerful stories of struggle and hardship, and witnessing how they overcame these events in their lives with such grace, the audience member leaves with a sense of empowerment…

…I loved the show! The monologues and performances are incredibly courageous and educational. As well as a reminder of how therapeutic art can be. As a representative of the male of the species I learned a lot :)) I will be back

These women are so brave!
